Haitian Compas Fest 2k10 – A Permanent

August 2009 – Bayfront Park – Downtown Miami - There are a number of Landmarks throughout the United States. There are sights to see, historical attractions to visit and several places to go, yet only one event in May has the magnetism and the mass appeal to lure people from across the oceans and passed borders to make Downtown Miami their final destination. In its twelfth year, the Haitian Compas Festival has become a staple in Miami and its charm, desirability and enticement have made families book flights a year in advance and plan vacations around Mid-May to guarantee that nothing is missed during Haitian Flag Day weekend.

 

The hot Miami sun has been a seductive temptress for more than a decade and the Downtown backdrop, across the ocean from the vibe of South Beach has become the easiest decoy to temp Haitian-Americans and those of other nationalities to come celebrate what has now turned into a full 5 days of continuous excitement. From first class engagements throughout Miami’s hottest night clubs to exclusive kick-off celebrations, the Haitian Compas Festival has become more than just a one-day event, it is a reunion, a weekend retreat and a make-shift convention for music lovers from all around.

 

Confirmed for Saturday, May 15, 2010, Compas Fest 2k10 is already in the works and barely nine months away, the red carpet and champagne has already been ordered for this stellar bash. City lights, the warm breeze from the ocean, the echoes of sounds from main acts like Kreyol La, T-Vice, Djakout Mizik, CaRiMi, Barikad Crew, Nu Look, Jahnesta, Azor, Zenglen, Black Dada and Harmonik, all these components will continue the tradition that Noel & Cecibon Productions created, while many surprises will add to the festivals repertoire.

 

The planning is in full effect, and the anticipation for Compas Fest 2k10 has already begun. Bayfront Park in Downtown Miami will play host, but the fans are the true VIP’s, as the bands are asked to stimulate their minds, perfect their craft and arouse the throngs of regulars to make the twelfth edition of the Haitian Compas Festival not only a custom, but a lasting ritual.
